Revealed: Kane could convince THIS England team-mate to join Bayern

Bayern Munich have been flooded with Premier League talent in recent years, with the likes of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz all heading to Bavaria from the English top-flight.

Germany has also provided the perfect platform for those stars to flourish, with all three producing record-breaking numbers since their arrivals. The 94 combined goal contributions from Bayern’s front three of Kane, Olise and Diaz are the most by a trio on record (since 1988) in the Bundesliga.

Now, reports in Germany suggest Kane could influence one of his England team-mates to follow suit.

That player is England and Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon, whose versatility across the front line – particularly after transitioning from a left winger to a striker at times this season – has caught the attention of the German champions.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move away before – most notably a return to his hometown club Liverpool in 2024 – but that deal ultimately collapsed. His current contract, signed shortly after that move fell through, runs until 2030 and does not include a release clause.

The Times reported earlier this week that no official club-to-club contact has yet been made, although there is a belief that Gordon would be open to the move.

Transfer reporter Ben Jacobs has suggested Gordon has already spoken to his international team-mate Kane about a potential switch, while BILD’s head of football, Christian Falk, highlighted the influence the 32-year-old could have.

‘Harry Kane is obviously a very important factor because he’s the national team captain – the man all English players look up to,’ Falk said. ‘Kane and Gordon together would be a good combination, and his advantage is that he can cover many positions across the front line.’

However, Newcastle’s valuation appears to be a significant obstacle, with The Times reporting the club are seeking £75 million for the forward. BILD have also contradicted their report to suggest that discussions between the two clubs have, in fact, commenced.

‘I’ve heard they’re talking to each other. They’re even discussing figures,’ Falk added. ‘It was once said to be £80 million; now The Times reports £75 million.

‘I know from Bayern Munich that this is too much for them. £75 million is around €86 million. They don’t want to spend that much on a player who is, ultimately, a versatile option rather than a fixed starter.’

Bayern’s priority, therefore, is to secure Gordon’s full commitment – particularly with his value potentially rising further at this summer’s World Cup.

‘Bayern’s plan is to reach an agreement with the player,’ Falk said. ‘Their stance is clear: if he moves, it will only be to Bayern. If Newcastle need to sell due to Financial Fair Play constraints and missing out on the Champions League, and Gordon is fully committed, Bayern could negotiate a lower fee.’

Newcastle, meanwhile, are expected to offload several players to refresh an ageing squad and meet financial regulations following a disappointing Premier League campaign, in which they have lost eight of their last 11 matches. According to The Times, Gordon is viewed as the leading candidate to depart to fund that rebuild.

The winger has scored 10 Champions League goals this season, making him the competition’s third-highest scorer. He has also established himself as a regular for England since his £45 million move from Everton in January 2023, earning 17 senior caps and scoring twice since his debut call-up in March 2024.

Gordon came close to joining Liverpool two years ago, before Newcastle instead sold Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest and Yankuba Minteh to Brighton to avoid a 10-point Premier League penalty for breaching Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
