Madonna’s Coachella costume may be LOST rather than stolen

Law enforcement have clarified that Madonna’s vanished costume from her Coachella set may merely have been lost rather than stolen.

Several vintage clothes disappeared after the 67-year-old performed her classics Vogue and Like a Prayer, as well as a new song, alongside headliner Sabrina Carpenter at the festival in Indio, California this past Friday.

‘I discovered that the vintage pieces that I wore went missing,’ Madonna, who has 56.2 million social media followers, wrote on an Instagram story on Monday.

‘Jacket, corset, dress and all other garments. These aren’t just clothes, they are part of my history. Other archival items from the same era went missing as well.’

The pop icon added: ‘I’m hoping and praying that some kind soul will find these items and reach out to my team at infomaverick2026@gmail.com. I’m offering a reward for their safe return. Thank you with all my heart.’

A representative for the Indio Police Department stated that the items ‘may have fallen off a golf cart,’ and that there was ‘no evidence’ they ‘were intentionally stolen.’

The spokesman told TMZ on Monday: ‘On Saturday, April 18, 2026, at approximately 7.32pm, a missing property report was filed.’

Law enforcement specified that the items ‘were last seen on a golf cart at the Empire Polo Grounds on Saturday, April 18, 2026, shortly after 1.30am, during weekend two of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.’

Police also said that the two bags containing the items ‘may have fallen off a golf cart operated by staff who were on their way to load the bags onto a bus. Upon arriving at the hotel shortly thereafter, the staff realized the bags were missing.’

The spokesman added that there is ‘no evidence to suggest the bags were intentionally stolen.’

An itemized list of the missing costume pieces has now emerged, thanks to law enforcement sources revealing the information to TMZ.

Among them was the purple leather Gucci bomber jacket and matching knee-high boots that Madonna recycled from her 2005 MTV European Music Awards outfit.

Others included an approximately $25,000 lavender Moschino corset, lavender gloves, a slit-and-teddy combo, thigh-highs and a purple set of trunks.

The seven-time Grammy winner has a sizable glam squad – stylist Rita Melssen, hairstylist Matt Benns, make-up artist Marcelo Gutierrez and three fashion assistants – so it may seem surprising that her costumes were lost backstage.

‘Still flying high since Friday night at Coachella!’ the two-time Golden Globe winner gushed.

‘Thank you to Sabrina and everyone who made it possible. Bringing Confessions II back to where it began was such a thrill! A moment in history, I will never forget! I feel so free!’

The feeling was mutual for the 26-year-old Grammy winner, who thanked her Michigan-born mentor on Saturday for ‘coming out, bringing your love and gracing the audience with everything you are plus astrology knowledge plus the greatest songs of all time.’

‘Last night was straight out of a dream. Spending so much time laughing with you and then above all sharing the stage with you is a privilege I’ll never forget,’ Carpenter concluded.

Madonna – who drops Confessions On A Dance Floor: Part II on July 3 – is lucky to be alive following her 2023 hospitalization for ‘a serious bacterial infection’ during which she was in a 48-hour medically induced coma.
