Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets dead in shock suicide

Storage Wars star Darrell Sheets died by suicide at the age of 67 on Wednesday.

The TV personality had appeared on the A&E reality series beginning in 2010 for 163 episodes. 

The Lake Havasu Police Department in Arizona said in a press release obtained by the Daily Mail that Sheets appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. 

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, law enforcement responded to a call in regards to a deceased individual at his residence. 

‘The male subject has been identified as Darrell Sheets, a 67-year-old resident of Lake Havasu City and Darrell’s family has been notified,’ the release stated.

Sheets had been pronounced dead at the scene and his body has since been taken to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The ‘incident remains under active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available,’ the Lake Havasu Police concluded. 

Sheets had been residing in Arizona following his retirement and also ran an antique store called called Havasu Show Me Your Junk.

He often posted about the shop to his Instagram page, with his last post being uploaded in December 2025 shortly before Christmas. 

Sheets had shared pictures of signs that had been delivered to the store and encouraged fans to stop by at the time.

The late star had made appearances on Storage Wars throughout the span of 13 seasons, with his final time on the series taking place in 2023. 

He had also been a guest on other shows including Rachael Ray and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. 

Sheets was also candid about his health and revealed on Instagram in 2019 that he suffered a ‘mild heart attack.’ 

‘Well here we go I wasn’t going to say anything, but you all have been the greatest friends and fans,’ he wrote alongside a photo of himself resting in a hospital bed.

‘I’ve Been very sick for 3 months and two nights ago I had a mild heart attack. Found out I have congestive heart failure and a severe issue going on with my lungs.’ 

He added, ‘Today I am having surgery so all your prayers would be deeply appreciated thank you for being there for me it’s been a great ride #storagewars.’

Following the surgery where he received two stents in his heart, Sheets shared a separate post to give an update and encouraged his followers to prioritize their health. 

‘I was a closet diabetic that would eat what ever I wanted and masked it with diabetic pills, Im paying the price,’ he had written.

‘I beg all of my friends, fans, and family to really pay attention to your health, I have survived many things in the last 31/2 years and I will survive this but it is a huge life change and had I watched it and took care of it I would not be in this position.’ 

The late star added that, ‘God spared me once again and I will definitely pay more attention this time.’

He told his fans that he was ‘feeling better’ before sending gratitude for the support he received. 

During his time on the show, Sheets had developed the nickname ‘The Gambler.’

A spokesperson for A&E responded to the news of his shock passing in a statement to People on Wednesday. 

‘We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell, “The Gambler,” Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.’
