Lionesses fans complain at glaring omission from King Charles’ message

Lionesses fans have complained after the Royal Family posted a good luck message to the team ahead of the Euros final – only to accidentally exclude one hero from their well-wishes.

Sarina Wiegman’s side go into Sunday’s showdown against Spain with a spring in their step and the spirit of vengeance in their blood after 2023’s World Cup final defeat.

And the nation’s ruling family had some kind words of encouragement – but excluded a major star from their attached image.

The Crown posted on X to praise the Lionesses for their ‘remarkable’ journey, laud their ‘inspiring’ presence, and wish them the best.

Alongside that, they shared a graphic of all the Lionesses smiling and celebrating to build the feel-good factor.

But one comment from an eagle-eyed supporter, a mere three words, exposed what appeared to be an almighty oversight: ‘Where is Agyemang?’

Lionesses fans have complained that Michelle Agyemang has been left out of the Royal Family's good luck message for the Euros final

Agyemang has scored two critical goals to help England on their way to the final in Switzerland

Michelle Agyemang, who has bailed England out twice with her goals in this tournament, was nowhere to be seen in the graphic.

If the Lionesses retain their Euros title on Sunday, they will be extremely grateful to the 19-year-old student for her contributions in Switzerland.

Not only did she score an 81st minute equaliser in the quarter-finals against Sweden to help the game go to extra-time and penalties, but she netted a 96th-minute equaliser against Italy in the semis to earn another added period.

Chloe Kelly then finished the business in the 119th minute to complete the comeback and send the Lionesses to their second consecutive final.

Agyemang’s omission may be explained partially by the fact that she is surprise star in this mission. She only made her debut in April – scoring 41 seconds after coming on against Belgium – to stake her claim to a place on the plane, and she only has four caps so far.

Moreover, Agyemang is not the only omission. For example, deputy goalkeepers Khiara Keating and Anna Moorhouse are not featured – but they have not played this tournament.

That didn’t stop the comments from fans on X. One wrote: ‘I don’t see Michelle anywhere’ with a sad face emoji.

‘Your Royal Family media manager doesn’t know theres a player called Michelle Agyemang that grabbed your equalizer in the last 2 games? You’d have been out last week otherwise,’ one commented.

Fans could scarcely believe that Agyemang had been left out of the graphic showing players

Sarina Wiegman is in her fifth straight final across her time with the Netherlands and England

It is extremely unlikely that King Charles II would have designed the graphic himself

Another asked: ‘Your Royal Highness with all due respect where is Agyemang?’

‘Where is Michelle? I think you need to update your photo,’ said another.

England came out on top in 2022 as they beat Germany 2-1, with goals coming from Ella Toone and Kelly.

Wiegman has now extended her streak of consecutive Euros and World Cup finals to five across her time with England and the Netherlands.

The royals wrote in their message: ‘My wife and I join all our family in wishing you, the proud Lionesses, our warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the U.E.F.A EURO tournament.

‘Your journey to this stage has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing the skill, determination (and test of nerve!) for which your team is so rightly celebrated.

‘Knowing the Lionesses’ fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday.

‘Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible.

‘Good luck, England. May you roar to victory once more.’
