Amandaland series two trailer sees Lucy Punch and Joanna Lumley return

Amandaland is back and that means the long-awaited return of Lucy Punch and Dame Joanna Lumley as the social climbing mumfluencer and her ‘snooty’ mother.

The BBC dropped a first look trailer at series two of the Motherland spin-off on Friday – and fans certainly won’t be disappointed.

Still living in the ‘lesser’ borough of SoHa, and juggling teenagers, her online Senuous brand and her ‘co-lab’ working at Kitchen’s Bathrooms and Kitchens.

Resigned to staying in the ‘lesser’ borough, Amanda is however thrilled by the opening of a hipster coffee shop which to her mind represents a step towards gentrification.

In the new trailer, Amanda is seen proudly displaying her takeaway coffee cups as she says: ‘She came, she saw, she gentrified.’

The trailer begins with Amanda stumbling out on stage at her daughter’s secondary school for a talk – complete with a dramatic black and white headshot as her backdrop.

And it wouldn't be Amandaland without iconic appearances from Ab Fab's Dame Joanna - who cuttingly remarks to her daughter: 'You post a picture of yourself eating cakes, and that's a job?'

‘Welcome everyone,’ she says as if addressing a TED talk before adding: ‘You’ve probably seen my content and assumed it’s another lifestyle brand.’

During her school talk, Amanda is later seen telling the students: ‘I use social media to touch people.’

The trailer then cuts to a clip of Amanda pretending to finish running as she vlogs the moment on her camera.

She sprays a hydration mist on her face to mimic sweat and then fakes being out of breath before telling the camera: ‘I’ve just smashed 7km so you’ll have to excuse my appearance.’

Elsewhere Amanda is joined outside the school by Anne (Philippa Dunne) and Fi (Rochenda Sandall), as well as newcomer Abs (Harriet Webb) – the no-nonsense ex-wife of her basement neighbour Mal (Samuel Anderson).

In a classic Amandaland moment, Abs shares a recommendation to read The Handmaid’s Tale and Amanda replies: ‘Love anything handmade.’

By mid-series, Amanda’s head has been turned by discovering a big house in the area is up for sale.

Desperate to own it, she turns to her mother – only to discover that getting her mum Felicity on board financially comes at a price. Her mum may seem evergreen, but is definitely starting to show signs of ageing so maybe living alone is no longer an option.

Fellow divorcee Mal is still Amanda’s basement neighbour and that tiniest of romantic frissons has not disappeared – with the pair’s flirty rivalry still on show.

This series we also meet his ex Abs, with whom Amanda struggles to connect.

Mal’s unlikely bromance with Abs’s new husband JJ (Ekow Quartey) continues, while Fi starts to find her calling as a professional dog walker when Della (Sibhan McSweeney) goes off to work on a cruise.

And of course, Anne remains Amanda’s loyal and long-suffering best friend, as they all navigate the challenges of parenting teenagers – through exams, relationships and, for the season finale, the school prom.

Amandaland premiered in 2025 and is a spin-off of popular long-running sitcom Motherland.

The premise sees Amanda navigating her recent divorce, downsizing to South Harlesden in London, as well as being a parent to teenagers.

Six episodes initially aired, with a Christmas special – featuring guest star Jennifer Saunders – following in December 2025.

Furthermore, Daily Mail’s TV critic Christopher Stevens described the sitcom as ‘wickedly funny’ and awarded it a five-star review.

He penned: ‘The show, a spin-off from Motherland starring Lucy Punch and Joanna Lumley, has become unmissable in the space of a couple of weeks.

‘Anyone who hasn’t heard of it probably doesn’t live here, no matter what they claim.  And only a robot could reply, “I’ve seen it but didn’t think it was amusing”.

‘Amanda, once the school gates bully who lorded it over the other mums with her swanky kitchen and designer clothes, is as pretentious as ever.

‘It’s not enough for her to post videos of herself to social media — she has to claim to be, “the face and brains and body and hair of a rapidly growing Instagram start-up”.’

Christopher continued: ‘But she’s so much more interesting now that her life has fallen apart.

‘Divorced, struggling to pay the rent in unfashionable South Harlesden and reduced to riding a bicycle after her car is repossessed, Amanda is realising to her horror that she’s no better than anyone else.’
