Vogue Williams overshadows Lucy Watson’s pregnancy announcement

When Lucy Watson announced her pregnancy news on Thursday evening it was a moment she had painstakingly planned with not just a photoshoot but a brand partnership.

Yet within minutes of her joyous news coming to light there was another Made In Chelsea star making the same announcement – her ex Spencer Matthews.

A joint post by Spencer and his wife Vogue Williams showed the pair beaming on the beach in St Barts as they revealed they were expecting baby number four.

While seemingly coincidental, the timing was awkward given Lucy and Spencer’s tumultuous history.

The MIC co-stars had a brief romance during the 2013 series of their E4 show but split after the now reformed lothario confessed to cheating during a holiday in Greece.

Their breakup played out on screen, after Lucy found out about Spencer’s liaison when fans tweeted her to tell her they had seen him leaving a club with another woman.

Lucy was left shaken by the betrayal, telling the Daily Mail two years on that she had not had another boyfriend, explaining: ‘Since Spencer, I’ve been more cautious about who I let into my life.

‘I’m still young and I’m so busy with my job that I don’t want to invest time in someone if I don’t think they are right for me.’

Lucy went on to date fellow MIC star James Dunmore after meeting on the show in 2015.

They tied the knot six years later in a stunning Greek ceremony and later welcomed their son Willoughby in 2024.

Spencer meanwhile married model and DJ Vogue Williams in 2018 after meeting on Channel 4 show The Jump.

They share children, Theodore, seven, Gigi, five, and Otto, three.

Lucy announced that she and James were expecting their second son by sharing a sweet selection of snaps showing off her blossoming baby bump.

She captioned the post: ‘our family is growing.

‘AD nothing prepares you for seeing that word, thank you to @clearblue for giving us that moment of clarity.’

Shortly afterwards, Vogue and Spencer’s post appeared, which they simply captioned: ‘BABY NUMBER 4 INCOMING… ❤️❤️ ‘

The baby news came after they were subject to split rumours after they failed to publicly mark their seventh wedding anniversary in June.

Spencer also stepped down from their joint podcast, Spencer & Vogue, to focus on his own project, Untapped.

But Vogue previously insisted that she and her husband are ‘happy’ and that their marriage is secure, while dispelling past rumours of a potential crisis.

Speaking to The Sun, the presenter said she has reached a point in her life where only ‘their truth’ matters, stressing that they remain very much a happy couple.

She recalled: ‘When he left our podcast, everyone was like, “What’s going on?”‘

Vogue also admitted to worrying about their children hearing the ‘baseless and cruel’ gossip at school.

She had previously addressed the claims in an Instagram post, telling followers: ‘It’s with great sadness that I have to let you know that Spen and I are NOT breaking up!

‘I usually avoid addressing baseless and cruel rumours, but this just keeps coming up.

‘It’s disappointing to see this narrative being pushed almost daily when it’s absolutely not true, and much more importantly, I don’t want my children hearing these lies in the playground.

‘We’re not sure what the angle is or where it’s coming from, but the whole thing feels very strange and mean. We’re very happily married and in love and I hope posting the truth on my own platform might make it stop.’

Asked whether her denial had helped silence the rumours, she told The Sun: ‘Of course not! I’ll probably not bother next time.’
