Victoria Beckham reveals heartache over family’s split with Brooklyn

Heartbroken Victoria Beckham has spoken for the first time about her family’s feud with her son Brooklyn, insisting: ‘All we have ever tried to do was protect our children.’

Lady Beckham spoke out after her eldest son sparked a toxic row with her and his father Sir David, seemingly attempting to humiliate them by accusing them of ‘controlling’ him.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal published on Thursday, the former Spice Girl posed in a double-breasted white blazer suit from her fashion label and decided to break her 19-month-long silence on the matter.

But when asked directly about her fractured relationship with Brooklyn, she couldn’t bring herself to mention her estranged 27-year-old son by name.

Instead she said: ‘I think that we’ve always – we love our children so much – we’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.

‘And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children.

‘And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.’

The fashion designer was asked if she felt ‘remorse’ for bringing her family into the public sphere – including her three other children Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14, and her parents.

Lady Beckham revealed that the negative press has not affected her beauty empire – through which she sells make-up and skincare products

‘I wouldn’t say it comes with guilt, I’d say that there was a lot of adjusting from my mum and dad, when all of a sudden there were paparazzi outside their house,’ she replied.

‘We’ve really taken our families on this ride with us.’

Lady Beckham’s interview was published four months after Brooklyn publicly cut ties with his family in a scathing six-page social media statement, which was seemingly designed to embarrass his mother in particular.

The aspiring chef and photographer stated that she ‘hijacked’ his first dance at his wedding to Nicola Peltz in 2022 and ‘danced very inappropriately on me’ in front of 500 guests – a claim numerous guests have said is untrue.

‘I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,’ Brooklyn wrote in his Instagram post.

He also alleged his parents tried to ‘bribe’ him into selling the commercial rights to his own name and accused them of ‘endlessly’ trying to ruin his relationship with Ms Peltz, 31.

‘I do not want to reconcile with my family,’ he stated firmly. ‘I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.’

‘I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good,’ she said. ‘I don’t think they’re buying my eyeliner just because it’s me.’

Brooklyn previously said his mother had 'hijacked' his first dance at his wedding to Nicola Peltz in 2022 and claimed she 'danced very inappropriately on me' in front of 500 guests

She went on: ‘Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it’s very different from having little children. I think that we’re trying to do the best we can.’

Brooklyn was last publicly seen with his parents at his mother’s Paris fashion show in September 2024, and rumours of a feud began to swirl soon after.

In a heartbreaking move last year, the parents were told they were allowed to speak to their son and his actress wife only through their lawyers.

Further cutting ties, Brooklyn then blocked them on Instagram shortly before Christmas.
