Video emerges from night Ruby Rose alleges Katy Perry sexual assault

New details have emerged of the night Ruby Rose claims Katy Perry sexually assaulted her at a nightclub in Melbourne, Australia, in 2010.

Victoria Police have opened an investigation into the alleged incident, which Rose claims took place at Spice Market on August 15 that year.

Perry, 41, vehemently denies the allegations, and newly resurfaced footage by Channel 10 shows the pop star attending a high school formal to surprise fans that same night.

Rose, 40, and the singer were seen beginning their night by crashing a senior send-off at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne.

Perry entertained her fans by singing a few songs for the crowd, including Single Ladies by Beyoncé.

Students appeared to form a circle in the middle of the venue as they watched their classmates dance to the song, before Perry leapt in to join them.

The hitmaker almost went unrecognised by students, as she appeared to be wearing a short black wig.

‘Is that Katy Perry?’ one person could be heard asking, to which someone else responded: ‘Oh, my God. It is!’

While there was no sign of Rose in the footage, she is understood to have also attended the formal with Perry before they both left to go to Spice Market.

A former manager of the nightclub, which is also located in the Grand Hyatt, confirmed Rose and Perry had attended the venue together that night.

A resurfaced photo shows the pair entering the club together alongside other guests, with Perry still wearing the outfit she was seen in at the formal just moments earlier.

The ex-staffer alleged the stars had ‘too much to drink’ and were later sneaked out of the back door of the club when they left.

‘They were drunk, they weren’t paralytic or anything… just like any other person drinking at a nightclub,’ the former manager told the Herald Sun on Tuesday.

‘They came in together, they were also with Katy’s hair and makeup girl, and another guy who was friends with Ruby.’

Perry vehemently denies the allegations, and now resurfaced footage shows the pop star attending a high school formal (pictured) to surprise fans that same night

The staffer said their appearance on the night quickly became a ‘security nightmare’ as there were 600 other people at the club.

At one point, Perry is said to have also enjoyed a dance ‘right in the middle of the mosh pit’.

The businessman said Perry and Rose spent time in a private VIP area with friends and were later escorted out of the venue through a back entrance.

He said they were taken to a private car, and added that he saw no sexual assault take place on the night.

‘Being conscious of them both being public figures, we didn’t want someone taking photos of them drunk like that. We always protected them as much as we could,’ he said.

Victoria Police are investigating the sexual assault allegations Rose has made against pop star Perry.

‘Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010,’ a spokesperson for the force told Daily Mail on Wednesday.

‘Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD.’

‘As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage,’ they added.

Rose has since made a post on Threads saying she can no longer talk about the incident while the police investigate her claims.

‘Last update on this: As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports,’ the Australian star wrote on Tuesday.

‘This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved.

‘It’s going to look like I am ignoring everything from supportive messages, to other people’s experiences, but I’m not.

‘This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief. I can start the healing process now. And temporary [sic] move forward. I love you all so much.’

The singer hit back at Rose’s allegations, denying she had sexually assaulted the Orange Is The New Black star, branding the claims ‘dangerous and reckless lies’.

Rose claimed in a social media post that the incident with the singer took place at Spice Market when she was in her twenties.

She added that it had taken her ‘almost two decades’ to speak about it publicly.

‘I’m now 40. It has taken almost two decades to say this publicly,’ she said.

In a statement, a representative for Perry said: ‘The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous, reckless lies.

‘Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to Perry and Rose for comment.
