Katy Perry denies claims she sexually assaulted actress Ruby Rose

Katy Perry has hit back at Ruby Rose’s ‘dangerous and reckless lies’ as she denied claims she sexually assaulted the actress in a statement on Tuesday.

Ruby, 40, claimed in a social media post that the incident with the singer, 41, occurred when she was in her early 20s at a nightclub in Melbourne, and said it had ‘taken her two decades to speak about it publicly.’

However, a representative for Katy hit back at Ruby’s comments in a statement to Daily Mail, saing: ‘The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies.

‘Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.’

In her post, which she shared on Threads, Ruby wrote: ‘Katy Perry sexually assaulted me at Spice Market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s**t what she thinks.’

Ruby went on to say: ‘I was only in my early 20s. I’m now 40. It has taken almost two decades to say this publicly.

‘Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes. Thank you for seeing me.’

Katy Perry has hit back at Ruby Rose's 'dangerous and reckless lies' as she denied claims she sexually assaulted the actress in a statement on Tuesday

This isn’t the first time Ruby has taken a swipe at Katy, with the star blasting her track Swish Swish as ‘purposeful poop’ back in 2017.

However she backtracked on the comments just days later, writing on X: ‘Being mean doesn’t suit me and leaves me feeling dirty.

‘Truth is being mean leaves more leaks in your camp than the titanic and I get so triggered when I think bullies don’t get held accountable and it makes me think I should say something… but it’s not [my] place.’

While Katy has previously deemed one of the biggest popstars in the world, more recently the star has been on the downward spiral with her latest music failing to revive her once chart topping career.

In April she hit headlines for all the wrong reasons after she dramatically kissed the ground following her return from space, with one PR expert even suggesting the star could face ‘career extinction’.

Once the furore of her space mission died down, Katy suffered heartbreak in her personal life as she split from her fiancé Orlando Bloom.

Despite her personal turmoil, Katy has soldiered on, performing on her Lifetimes Tour around the world across five different continents, and she is now dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Last year, it was also revealed she is asking for almost $5 million in a lawsuit against the disabled veteran who owned a $15 million Montecito, California home she purchased more than five years ago.

Ruby made the accusation in response to a post about Katy's reaction to Justin Bieber's performance at Coachella

The star bought the home from Carl Westcott in 2020 but within days the businessman who founded 1-800-Flowers tried to back out of the deal claiming he was incapacitated due to painkillers when he signed the paperwork.

His backtracking sparked a legal battle over the sale of the property, with the judge ruling in Katy’s favour.

And now the songstress has asked the court to force Westcott to pay $4,718,698.95 to account for damages she says he caused with extended litigation over the real estate sale.

Ruby first rose to fame with a role in Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black, before starring in The CW’s Batwoman for just one season.

The star claimed she was subject to bad working conditions on the show, and said that former Warner Bros. Television chairman Peter Roth ‘forced’ her back to work after surgery from a neck injury and hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on her.

In September, Ruby also took aim at actress Sydney Sweeney, blaming her for the disastrous box office debut of the movie Christy.

Ruby targeted Sydney in a blistering takedown after her Republican views left her as a widespread target for left-leaning stars.

In her online spray, she hit out at Sydney, and said she was originally set to play Christy, who she calls ‘Cherry’ in the message, and that the original line-up was nearly entirely queer, before claiming Sydney ‘hates gay people.’
