How much prize money did Rory McIlroy win at the 2026 Masters?

When it comes to purse size, the difference between Rory McIlroy’s 2025 Masters victory and his 2026 Masters victory is only slightly more than the value of a new Aston Martin Vantage S Roadster.

McIlroy claimed his second green jacket on Sunday – bouncing back from early mistakes to win the sixth major of his career and his second Masters title.

He became the fourth person in Masters history to win back-to-back titles – joining Jack Nicklaus, Nick Faldo and Tiger Woods.

Not only will McIlroy get to hold on to the coveted green jacket for another 365 days, but he’ll also take home a check for $4.5million, according to Golf Monthly.

That’s roughly $300,000 more than what he earned for accomplishing the same feat just one year ago.

The Masters confirmed that its overall payout increased from $21million in 2025 to $22.5million for 2026.

Winning this year’s prize made McIlroy the highest earner in the history of Augusta National – raking in more cash than five-time winner Tiger Woods and three-time victor Phil Mickelson.

The closest competitor to McIlroy was two-time winner Scottie Scheffler, who walked away with $2.43million after his final round.

Ultimately, it was a prize that was $1.17m less than what he won when he took the top spot at the 2024 Masters.

The only remaining players who took in over a million dollars were the quartet of third-place finishers: Justin Rose, Tyrrell Hatton, Cameron Young and Russell Henley.

McIlroy entered the final round tied with Young for the lead and briefly surrendered it to the New York native.

But he managed to surpass both Young and Rose to take a lead he wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the day.
