Undertaker behind funeral home scandal visits the tip ahead of jailing

Disgraced funeral director Robert Bush is spending Easter weekend getting his house in order before an inevitable jail term.

The 48-year-old undertaker, who left 35 bodies unburied and kept 100 sets of ashes from grieving families at Legacy Independent Funeral Directors in Hull, East Yorkshire, dumped personal items at a rubbish tip near his bail address on Saturday.

Wearing a baseball cap, jeans and jacket, Bush loaded his black Audi full of bin liners, cardboard boxes and household goods before taking them to the local tip in Otley, West Yorkshire.

He drove the half mile from his smart stone built three-storey semi-detached bail address in a quiet cul-de-sac in the historic market town of Otley to the Ellar Ghyll household waste recycling centre to dispose of the junk.

Despite preventing the lawful disposal of families’ loved ones, Bush carefully spent several minutes ensuring plastics, cardboard and metal objects were dumped in the correct recycling bays at the busy Leeds City Council-run tip.

Bush appeared to not have a care in the world and in spite of the baseball cap, seemed unashamed following his recent appearance at Hull Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 30 counts of preventing a lawful and decent burial.

The funeral parlour boss also admitted to one count of theft from 12 charities, including the Salvation Army and Macmillan Cancer Support.

He had previously pleaded guilty to presenting families with the ashes of strangers and fraudulently selling funeral plans.

'He is lucky to be bailed here and not in the Hull area, where there will be a lot of anger towards him,' they added. Pictured: Bush at the tip
