Gary Neville’s staggering seven-figure earnings from podcast empire

Gary Neville’s production company Buzz 16 raked in a staggering £11.6million in revenue last year, annual reports have revealed.

The Manchester United icon is a co-founder of the sports entertainment organisation, which plays host to his podcast empire including its jewel in the crown, The Overlap – Stick To Football.

The Overlap’s YouTube channel received an eye-watering 2.2billion views in 2025, and at the start of the year inked a deal with commercial radio behemoth Global to sell a majority stake in anticipation of expanding the brand.

Of their gross revenue, Buzz 16 paid out £4.6m in wages and pension contributions, with Neville and his fellow directors, including founders Scott Melvin and Diana Law, paying themselves over £3m in dividends.

Since launching in 2021, The Overlap has expanded from flagship show Stick To Football into spin-offs such as Fan Debate, hosted by Jamie Carragher and featuring a rotating cast of famous faces, and Football Music and Me, hosted by Geoff Shreeves.

The channel has also launched into other markets, with The Overlap – Stick To Cricket racking up 103,000 subscribers since launching nine months ago.

However, that figure is dwarved by Gary Lineker's Goalhanger podcast network

Buzz 16 also works on developing sports documentaries, producing hits such as Rylan: Football, Homophobia & Me for TNT Sports and Micah Richards: Tackling Racism for Sky Sports.

Neville is just one of his cohort of former England stars to have dipped a toe in the podcasting world, with Paul Scholes launching The Good, The Bad, and The Football alongside ex-Man United team-mate Nicky Butt and Paddy McGuinness last year.

Rio Ferdinand helms his own Rio Ferdinand Presents channel, with his Rio Meets series most recently seeing the ex-defender sitting down with Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus.

But the undisputed champion of the genre remains Gary Lineker, whose Goalhanger Podcasts stable includes shows such as The Rest Is History, Empire, Football Cliches, and his own The Rest Is Football.

Bloomberg reported in January that the company had raked in a total revenue of close to £37.7m in 2025, the jaw-dropping figure up 80 per cent from 2024.

As per the Telegraph, media analysts believe that the company could be worth up to £100m, with Goalhanger going on to sell a stake to private investment firm The Chernin Group in late January.

Alongside his own personal media portfolio, Neville continues to make regular appearances on Sky Sports as a pundit, and has his own podcast, The Gary Neville Podcast, with the broadcaster.

He is also an investor in property, education, and hospitality via his Relentless investment portfolio.
