A contestant on The 1% Club bagged a whopping £97,000 jackpot after solving a difficult clock question – but can you work it out?
Lee Mack presents the popular ITV game show, which focuses on players’ logic and common sense rather than general knowledge.
Saturday’s (March 7) episode came down to two finalists, Zoe and Ryan, playing for the big money prize.
Their final question asked: ‘What word is represented by the times on the clocks below?’
Below the question were five varying types of clocks, each of which displayed a different time.
When it came to reveal their answers to Lee, it transpired Ryan had not put anything down – while Zoe opted for ‘Label’.
‘Label’ was soon revealed to be correct, meaning Zoe successfully won the entire £97,000 jackpot.
Speaking afterwards, Lee shared he had witnessed the moment that Zoe realised she knew the answer.
The player replied: ‘I think after I put it, I was like, “I think that’s right”‘.
It comes as a third of players were wiped out by a tricky bird question in a previous episode.
One question left a lot of the players scratching their heads, and that was the 50% question – which saw two people leave the competition.
Lee said: ‘Answer this question. If TRUE is 1234 and LOVE is 7654, what bird is 5371324?’
After 30 seconds were up, two were booted off after getting the question incorrect.
‘We lost two people there, and 20 people used their pass. Let’s take a look at the answer,’ Lee told viewers.
He continued: ‘It’s VULTURE. If you replace the numbers with the appropriate letters in the question, you get VULTURE.’
The host then went to one of the players called Matt, who decided to use his pass after finding it too difficult.
Matt explained: ‘No clue and then soon as the time was up, it became quite obvious what it was.’
Elsewhere, another baffling question on The 1% Club knocked four players out and forced thirteen to admit defeat and use their pass.
The question featured a graphic of three couples on a date and read: ‘Three couples are out on a date. No one is sitting next to or directly opposite their date.
‘Arran tells Nick’s date that he likes her shoes. Who is David’s date?’
As the clock ticked down on the show, a whopping 13 people made the executive decision to use their pass.
Meanwhile, four of those brave enough to answer ended up being wrong.
Revealing the answer to the difficult question, Lee said: ‘Given that no one can sit next to or opposite their date and we know from the question that Arran can’t be Nick’s date.
‘Nick and Charlotte must be a couple. Therefore, Hayley must be Arran’s date and Janice must be David’s date.
‘Therefore the answer is Janice.’
He was clearly baffled too and admitted: ‘It’s great when you read them out and you still don’t understand the answer.’
The 1% Club airs Saturdays on ITV1 and ITVX.
