Iran has launched a series of retaliatory strikes across the Middle East today, with five missiles intercepted in Saudia Arabia and ten shot down in Qatar
Meanwhile, Sir Keir Starmer promised Saudi Arabia’s crown prince Mohammed bin Salman that the UK ‘stood ready’ to back the defence of the Middle Eastern country.
A Downing Street spokesperson confirmed additional British helicopters, fighter jets and a destroyer were being deployed to the region and that Britain was ready to support Saudi Arabia ‘should it be needed’.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched its twenty-third round of strikes, a statement from the country’s news agency Tasmin has said.
It comes after the IDF said they were working to intercept incoming attacks after reporting missiles launched from Iran towards Israel had been detected.
Alerts were issued to mobile phones in areas which could be impacted by the country’s Home Front Command, the IDF said.

I met with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Charaa as well as Lebanese President Joseph Aoun.
France is working with its partners to prevent the conflict from spreading further in the region.
The sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and Lebanon, as well as of every country in the region, must be respected.
The ongoing destabilizations leave no room for terrorism. France will ensure this. While the United Nations Force in Lebanon plays a key role in stabilization in southern Lebanon, I strongly condemn the unacceptable attack that struck members of its contingent today.
France will remain committed to it.
