Bizarre moment England’s Hampton is asked about ‘TAMPON up nose’

England Women hero Hannah Hampton was bizarrely asked about having a tampon up her nose in a post-match interview.

Hampton saved two penalties as England prevailed past Sweden to reach the semi-finals of the Euros.

The Lionesses had been 2-0 down before managing to pull level in dramatic circumstances.

After suffering a nosebleed, Hampton put an object up her nose and was left in hysterics after being asked about it in an interview.

A BBC reporter asked Hampton: ‘I’ve got to ask, you had your big moment with what looked like a tampon up your nose? How is your nose?’

Hampton laughed at the question and then responded: ‘It’s fine. To be honest, me and nosebleeds never go well. Me and the doctor have some great history with having to go to hospital and stuff.

The England goalkeeper had been struggling with a nosebleed before the semi-final

‘So as soon as he came over and I say, ‘Doctor, my nose is bleeding,’ and he’s thinking not again. But it’s fine, I’m better without one nostril now.’

Goals from Kosovare Asllani and Stina Blackstenius saw Sweden establish a 2-0 lead.

However, England managed to fight back, with Chloe Kelly and Michelle Agyemang scoring late on.

A dramatic penalty shootout followed, with Sweden missing five spot kicks and England missing four.

Sweden goalkeeper Jennifer Falk was amongst those who were unsuccessful from the spot.

Lucy Bronze successfully converted her penalty for England before Sweden’s Smilla Holmberg missed.

England will now take on Italy in the semi-finals on Tuesday.

Chelsea goalkeeper Hampton has been capped by England on 20 occasions having made her international debut in 2022.
