Cristiano Ronaldo smashes a young fan’s phone out of his hands

Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury-time penalty miss that saw Al-Nassr dumped out of the Saudi Cup also smashed a young fan’s phone out of his hands.

Al-Nassr were eliminated from the competition in the last-16 by Al-Taawoun, who beat the home side 1-0 in a shock result on Tuesday evening.

However, Ronaldo was given a golden chance to level the game deep into stoppage time and force the tie into extra-time when his side were awarded a penalty.

But, the former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus superstar blazed his penalty high over the bar.

The 39-year-old subsequently walked away holding his head in his hands.

Cristiano Ronaldo's awful penalty on Tuesday smashed a young fan's phone out of his hands

Ronaldo's wayward effort had crashed right into a youngster, with his phone flying into the air

Ronaldo then suffered further ignominy after new footage circulated on social media on Wednesday.

As Al-Nassr fans behind the goal aimed to capture the moment that they hoped would be an equaliser, one young fan  saw his phone smashed out of his hand by Ronaldo’s effort.

The ball appeared to hit the youngster on their arm, before his phone flew into the air and he was knocked back by the impact.

Al-Taawoun had shocked home fans as they took the lead in the 71st minute of the clash when defender Waleed Al-Ahmed nodded home from a corner.

The away team almost scored again in injury time, but in a dramatic turn of the tables, Waleed turned from hero to villain when he brought down Mohammed Maran inside the penalty box to give away a penalty.

Ronaldo's penalty miss resulted in what was a shock exit for Al-Nassr against their opponents

Fortunately, anxiety turned to relief with Ronaldo’s penalty miss, which seals the Portuguese player’s third consecutive exit from the Saudi Cup since moving to the Middle East in 2022.

Ronaldo will be looking to get back his usual self when the Saudi Pro League resumes on Friday when Al-Nassr – who currently sit third – take on league leaders, Al-Hilal.
