Man United’s Gang of Five outcasts summoned back to training

Manchester United have summoned the club’s five unwanted stars back to training at Carrington, but are making sure they don’t come into contact with head coach Ruben Amorim or their teammates.

Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia were given extra time away from the training ground to explore moves away from Old Trafford when the rest of the squad returned for pre-season last week.

Rashford took up the option to use the facilities at Carrington as long as he wasn’t there at the same time as Amorim and the squad.

This was was described as a co-ordinated return that saw him enter the complex within minutes of the United boss leaving.

The England forward came into work with the club’s fitness staff on several occasions last week, and was joined by Garnacho on Thursday when only the Under-10s team were at Carrington.

All five outcasts have now been told that they are expected to turn up at the training ground this week.

Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford are among the group of players looking to leave United

Antony enjoyed his loan spell at Betis and is keen on staying on with the La Liga outfit

Alejandro Garnacho is among the wantaway players but turned down a move to Al Nassr

They can only come in after 5pm when Amorim and the other players have vacated the premises.

They will also have to report to Carrington this weekend when United are away in Stockholm playing Leeds in the club’s opening pre-season friendly.

United will depart on pre-season tour to the US several days later with none of the five players expected to be in the travelling squad.

Rashford and Sancho have been linked with loan moves to Barcelona and Juventus respectively, while United are hoping to sell Garnacho who would generate maximum profit under financial fair play rules.

The Argentinian international recently rejected a move to join Saudi side Al Nassr, while Serie A outfit are known to be interested.

However, it is understood that Garnacho’s preference is to remain in the Premier League.

Antony wants to rejoin Real Betis after spending the second half of last season on loan at the Spanish club, and Malacia is available following a spell at PSV Eindhoven.
