Tottenham star devastated as thugs break into £150,000 Range Rover

Tottenham star Destiny Udogie has been left heartbroken after thieves broke into his £150,000 Range Rover.

The defender came back to his car after being an unused substitute in Tottenham’s 2-1 home defeat by West Ham United on Saturday to find the back window had been smashed, with shattered glass covering the inside of the vehicle.

A clothes hanger and carton of water were the only things left in the boot.

The incident comes just four months after a terrifying ordeal for the 23-year-old Italian when he was allegedly threatened with a gun by a football agent.

The Metropolitan police said a 31-year-old man was arrested on 8 September on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence. He was bailed while enquiries continued.

In a statement after that attack, Spurs said: ‘We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.’

Footballer Destiny Udogie's £150,000 car was broken into during Tottenham's game

Udogie joined Spurs from Udinese for £15m on a five-year deal in the summer of 2022, before returning to the Serie A club on a season-long loan.

In a sardonic social media post after the Range Rover break in, the player said: ‘Yeah, goodnight.’

As reported on NeedToKnow, Tottenham fans rallied round their player, with David Cochrane commenting: ‘Ah man, I’m sorry for Destiny.’

Another – called Bradley – fumed: ‘Unacceptable. And has to stop f***ing immediately.’

Darren Carter added: ‘Impossible. Sadiq Khan said London is safe, low on crime and the best city in the world.’

James Smith added: ‘Simply has to stop. This is London for you, we’ve done this to ourselves.’

Greg Power joked: ‘I heard the person responsible left two Spurs season tickets in it. Any truth to this?’

It comes after Udogie was allegedly threatened with a gun by a football agent.

The agent was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with the intent to cause fear of violence and is also under investigation over allegations of blackmail and making threats towards the star’s friend. He has not been charged with any offence.

He was granted bail on September 9 but must not contact Udogie or visit Spurs’ training ground.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that police were called at 11.14pm on Saturday, September 6 ‘to reports a man in his 20s had been threatened with a firearm on Cockfosters Parade, Barnet.

‘Officers spoke to the victim and during the course of their investigation it was also reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual.

‘No injuries were reported in either incident. A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday, September 8 on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence. He has been bailed while inquiries continue.’

Spurs boss Thomas Frank said: ‘It is a terrible situation to have been in and I can’t speak too much about it as it’s a legal case, as we know, but the club and we have done everything we can to support him.

‘We’ll do that and he’s clearly doing well on the pitch, which is good and we’ll keep supporting him.’
