Piers Morgan has revealed he has been rushed to hospital after breaking his hip in a painful fall.
The broadcaster shared the news with fans on Instagram, posting two images: one showing him lying in a hospital bed and another displaying an X-ray of his broken hip.
Mr Morgan explained that he fractured the neck of his femur after tripping on a small step inside a London hotel restaurant, with the injury so severe that it required a full hip replacement.
In the post, he wrote: ‘BREAKING NEWS.
‘1. Tripped on a small step.
‘2. Inside a London hotel restaurant.
‘3. Fell like a sack of spuds.
‘4. Fractured neck of femur.
‘5. So badly I needed a new hip.
‘6. Recovering in hospital.
‘7. Crutches for 6 weeks.
‘8. No long-haul flying for 12 weeks.
‘9. New Year off to a cracking start!
’10. I blame Donald Trump.’
The injury means Morgan is facing up to three months of restricted movement, with doctors advising against long-haul travel for at least 12 weeks as he recovers from surgery.
The TV presenter appeared in good spirits despite the ordeal, joking about the mishap and sharing the stark X-ray image with his followers.
The fall is said to have taken place inside a London hotel restaurant, with Morgan admitting he ‘fell like a sack of spuds’ after misjudging a small step.
Friends and fans flooded the comments section with well-wishes, praising his humour and wishing him a speedy recovery, including from Fred Sirieix who wrote ‘jeez speedy recovery’.
