A Millionaire Hot Seat contestant lost out on £250,000 after being stumped by a tricky celebrity question – but could you have solved it?

Jeremy Clarkson, 65, welcomed new hopefuls aiming to win up to £1million in a fast-paced contest.

Chris Evans, Bobby Freeman, Raza Khan, Michelle Hardy, Lucy Newton and Sandra Crump tackled Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’s new spin-off.

During the episode, Lucy managed to answer multiple questions correctly while in the Hot Seat.

She soon faced a difficult celebrity question while playing to reach £100,000 on the money ladder.

The question asked: ‘Which of these people was oldest when they first achieved the following?’

A contestant on Millionaire Hot Seat found herself stuck on this question - do you know the right answer?
Speaking out loud, Lucy reasoned out what the answer could possibly be - but under time pressure
In the end, she was ultimately left disappointed after guessing the wrong answer - losing out in the process

Meanwhile, the options were A) Leonardo DiCaprio: Oscar, B) David Beckham: Knighthood, C) Barack Obama: US Presidency or D) David Bowie: BRIT Award.

Speaking out loud, Lucy reasoned that David Beckham was knighted recently and is about 50, while Leonardo DiCaprio won the Oscar in his 40s.

She admitted to not knowing that David Bowie had won a BRIT Award – and due to this uncertainty, chose that as her answer.

Lucy was visibly nervous and unsure about the outcome, putting her head in her hands.

This was soon proven justified, as Jeremy said: ‘Your luck’s run out, that is the wrong answer.

‘It is actually David Beckham, you were right, he was 50.

‘Barack Obama was 47, Leonardo DiCaprio was 41. David Bowie was 37 when he got his BRIT.’

By answering incorrectly, the jackpot – which all six contestants are vying for – shrunk from £1million down to £250,000.

Millionaire Hot Seat hit our screens on January 6, 2026, after filming started in November last year.

Unfortunately the show has been branded an ‘awful rehash’ by furious fans who hit out with a series of scathing complaints.

Host Jeremy described the show as a ‘pure concentrated Who Wants To Be A Millionaire juice – no lifelines, no hesitating, and five people waiting to jump into the chair when someone makes a mess of things.’

Host Jeremy described the show as a ¿pure concentrated Who Wants To Be A Millionaire juice ¿ no lifelines, no hesitating, and five people waiting to jump into the chair when someone makes a mess of things.
The correct answer was David Beckham - which Lucy herself had contemplated - but would you have got it right?

Viewers at home were less than impressed with the action, and quickly took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to complain about the format – as contestants struggled to answer in the new shorter question time frame.

One fan raged: ‘These people all like the sound of their own voices…..or think they’re on regular WWTBAM…’ as another added: ‘Can’t they just answer the b****y question and stop talking sh**e all the b****rd time!’

Someone else penned: ‘Do they realise how long 15 seconds is? Stop yapping,’ while a fourth wrote: ‘Just answer the question!’

‘How many nights is this on? Awful rehash of the show. I give it one series,’ another viewer wrote, agreeing with someone else who said: ‘It’s bloody awful. Just turns it into a guessing game without any strategy and decision making.’

‘It’s kind of like the quiz show version of speed dating,’ another chimed in, as someone else added: ‘This new #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire format is horrendous.’

Others admitted that they ‘quite liked’ the change to the series, which has been on air since 1998.
