Three mothers died in single vehicle crash, inquest hears

Three mothers were killed in a car crash after the BMW 5 Series they were passengers in was involved in a single vehicle crash, an inquest was told.

Virashi Chauhan, 39, Neeru Patel and Bhamini Karsan, both 42, died at the scene on the southbound A46 carriageway on December 13, 2025.

An inquest heard the blue BMW, in which the women were passengers, had left the southbound carriageway between Thrussington and Sileby at around 1am.

An official cause of death has not yet been determined as Leicestershire Police probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A fourth person, who was also in the vehicle, was hospitalised with minor injuries at the time.

Ms Chauhan, from Syston, was a company secretary, while Patel, from Thurmaston, was a marketing manager, the inquest heard.

Meanwhile Karsan, who also resided in Syston, was an office administrator.

Assistant area coroner Sophie Lomas adjourned inquests into the three mothers’ deaths until July 22 for a review hearing.

Bhamini Karsan, 42, who was also a passenger in the blue BMW, also passed away at the scene following the incident

Virashi Chauhan, 39, (pictured) was described as a 'loving and devoted mother' as well as a 'cherished daughter'

She added that post-mortem examinations had been carried out within a week of the crash. Ms Lomas expressed her ‘sincere condolences’ to the women’s families.

A 37-year-old woman had been taken into custody on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after the incident.

She has since been released under investigation as the police force continues their enquiries.

It comes after the heartbroken families of Ms Patel and Ms Bhamini paid tribute to the ‘loving’ and ‘devoted’ mothers.

In a touching tribute, Ms Patel’s family described her as living ‘a life rooted in love, compassion, and quiet faith, devoted above all to her family and to caring for others’.

‘Her gentle spirit and selfless kindness touched many within our world, often in ways unseen but deeply felt,’ they added.

‘Though she is no longer with us, her love, her kindness, and her values live on through her two beautiful children and in the hearts of all who knew her.’

Ms Karsan’s family said the 42-year-old would be remembered ‘for her warm and bubbly personality and her kindness to others’.
