Pete Davidson offered a glimpse into his tattoo removal journey in new Instagram snaps nearly two weeks after welcoming his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt.
The 32-year-old comedian – who reportedly has paid around $200,000 to remove the ink amid his sobriety – could be seen cradling their newborn baby girl in photos shared by the model on Sunday.
Davidson went shirtless while spending quality time with the little one who was welcomed to the world on December 12.
As he sat on a couch, the star’s tattoos on both of his arms are now mostly vanished – with some still remaining on his shoulders and chest.
A second image showed Hewitt also holding their baby Scottie who was swaddled in a pink blanket.
In the caption of the post, the new mom penned to her 1.1 million followers: ‘MY BEST FRIENDS.’
The SNL alum began the lengthy, tattoo removal process back in 2020 – which was sparked after getting sober.
Earlier this year in January, a source told People that the actor ‘just woke up one day and wanted them gone, and it’s been a years-long process.’
A separate insider added that Davidson ‘has been sober since September’ of last year ‘and gained twenty pounds’ for a ‘fresh start.’
‘Things are really going well for him, everything is moving in the right direction, and he’s been receiving fantastic reviews for the movie,’ they said, referencing to his film Dog Man at the time.
And during an appearance on the Today show that same month, the comedian got candid about the removal of his ink – admitting that it is ‘pretty terrible.’
‘So if anybody out there is watching and thinking about getting a tattoo, make sure you really want to get it,’ Davidson told viewers.
He then lifted up one of his arms into the air to give a look at the faded ink and said, ‘It’s pretty gone.’
In regards to what caused the star to begin the removal journey, he explained, ‘I got sober and I saw myself in the mirror and I was like, “Nah. Who that?” I was like, “I got to change it up a little bit.”‘
And in February as he paid a visit to Late Night With Seth Myers, Davidson also discussed getting rid of his ink.
At one point, the actor explained that he did not initially think that the process would take years.
‘No, I didn’t realize it would take – like, when I’m 40, it’ll all be gone, like the chest and the back,’ he said.
‘It’s at least seven visits,’ Davidson added in regards to removing just one tattoo. ‘And if it’s black and white, it’s a little easier. But if it’s a color tattoo, it takes forever.’
The late night talk show host then questioned if there was a tattoo that he was thrilled to remove, to which the comedian replied, ‘All of them.’
The Pickup actor further expressed, ‘Well I made a lot of those decisions when, you know, before rehab. So I got the dumbest tattoos.’
Davidson has also reportedly been sober for around one year and in July 2024, he notably checked into a wellness facility to seek treatment for his mental health – including PTSD and borderline personality disorder.
Back in 2023, the actor also spent time at a facility to focus on his mental health – with a source telling People at the time that mental health has ‘always been a priority’ for Davidson.
An insider explained to the outlet, ‘Pete will often check himself into rehab to work on these issues. His friends and family have been supportive during this time.’
The comedian has been open about the topic for many years and previously told Variety back in 2018 that has ‘been in and out of mental health facilities’ since he was nine.
He shared to the publication, ‘The last few years have been real rough with me. I took all these mental health classes and really spent a lot of time getting me good.’
Davidson lost his father – a Staten Island firefighter – during the 9/11 attacks when he was just seven-years-old.
Last week, it was announced that both he and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt welcomed their first child together – a daughter named Scottie – on December 12.
Hewitt took to Instagram to share the special news as well as uploading pictures of the newborn.
‘our perfect angel girl arrived 12/12/2025 scottie rose hewitt davidson ♥️,’ the media personality penned.
‘My best work yet, i am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief. – elsie. wu tang forever. – pete.’
Hewitt also gave an update into motherhood as she admitted to ‘crying’ over her ‘perfect’ little girl.
In a selfie added to her Instagram stories, the model added text which read: ‘to all the moms do u also just sit and star eat your baby and cry at how much you love them.
‘And can’t believe it’s yours and that your body made this perfect thing and u don’t even know how to handle how in love u are so u just start crying.’
After giving birth to their daughter, Hewitt revealed that she had to get a tooth removed just one day later.
She shared an image of her swollen jaw which was wrapped with an ice pack while taking a snap from inside a vehicle.
The model held out her hand towards her newborn baby next to her and typed, ‘Who else had to get a wisdom tooth removed directly from hospital the day after they gave birth?’
Late last month in November before their little one was welcomed to the world, Hewitt took part a lavish baby shower which Davidson also attended.
The party was filled with plenty of activities – while loved ones and pals supported the couple.
