Nick’s lawyer, Alana Jackson, made a statement to the public saying that there were ‘very, very complex and serious issues that are associated with this case,’ and asked that ‘throughout this process you allow the system to move forward in the way that it was designed to move forward, not with a rush to judgment.’
Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, 70, were found dead from apparent stab wounds in their $13.5 million Los Angeles mansion on Sunday.
Their son has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the killings of his Hollywood legend father and photographer mother.
Prosecutors added special circumstances of multiple murders and use of a dangerous weapon, a knife, meaning, if he is convicted, Nick could face life in prison without the possibility of parole or even the death penalty.

Rob Reiner talked about how traditional rehab didn’t work for son Nick in resurfaced interview
Rob Reiner and his son, Nick, discussed how traditional rehab did not work in a 2015 interview with the Los Angeles Times promoting their film, Being Charlie.
‘The program works for some people, but it can’t work for everybody,’ Rob said.
‘When Nick would tell us that it wasn’t working for him, we wouldn’t listen. We were desperate, and because the people had diplomas on their wall, we listened to them when we should have been listening to our son.’
Nick’s mother, Michele, added, ‘we were so influenced by these people. They would tell us he’s a liar, that he was trying to manipulate us. And we believed them.’
Nick said it was not rehab that got him sober at the time, but a practical realization.
‘I got sick of it. I got sick of doing that. I come from a nice family, I’m not supposed to be out there on the streets and in homeless shelters doing all these things,’ he said.
