George Clooney joked that his twins are ‘rotten to the core’ because they savagely mock him in Italian so he can’t understand.

The actor, 64, shares Ella and Alexander, eight, with his human rights lawyer wife Amal, 47, with the children fluent in multiple languages.

Speaking on The Capital Evening Show with Jimmy Hill on Tuesday, George explained how he ‘sits there like an idiot’ while his family laugh at him.

He said: ‘Well, they also speak fluent French. I mean, English is a foreign language for me so I’m already in trouble.

‘They rip on me right in front of me and I look at them going “what did you say?” and “what are you talking about?”

‘And my wife understands and the rest of the family gets it and I just sit there like an idiot.’

Jimmy asked: ‘Are they bullying you George? Do you need me to step in here?’

‘Okay, so when you have children you’ll see that they are little but they are evil. They’re rotten to the core those children, you know. And they can break you,’ George joked.

‘In fact, just be careful. Maybe just try renting one for a week.’

George gave a rare insight into family life with his twins as he admitted that he ‘had kids late so I could spend time with them’.

In an interview released this weekend the actor spoke about the pressures of balancing time with your loved ones and advancing in your career when you are starting out.

Speaking to The Times he said most people are sacrificing time with their family to make a living when starting out in their given careers.

He then added: ‘But look, it’s easier for me. I had kids very late and so I could spend more time with them. But when you’re young? That’s hard.’

He explained that now he is older, more experienced and more financially secure, he can be more picky over which projects he actually takes on where as at the start ‘you have no control’ over that.

He reminisced: ‘I remember when I got Batman & Robin in 1997 – I called my friends and we screamed because back then I had only done one studio picture, and so to me that was a huge break.

‘Of course, we did not understand then that it was going to be a terrible movie.’

Despite being one of the biggest names in the movie industry, George recently revealed that him and his family left the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles behind for a farm in France.

George said that now his kids are having a ‘much better life’ growing up out of the spotlight.
