A young boy and a woman in her 60s have died in a house fire in Edenderry.
Another woman was seriously injured and taken to hospital by the emergency services.
Police attended at the scene of the fatal fire at a domestic residence in Castleview Park, Co Offaly, on Saturday at around 7.45pm.
‘An Garda Síochána can confirm two fatalities as a result of this house fire. A female, aged 60 years and a young boy were fatally injured. A second female, aged in her 50s is receiving treatment for serious injuries at a hospital in the Midlands,’ said a spokesperson this Sunday morning.
The fire was extinguished by the local fire service.
The scene of the fire will be subject to technical and forensic examinations and arrangements are being made to carry out post mortem examinations on the bodies of the deceased.
Authorities in Tullamore are investigating the incident and they are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
