Aston Merrygold issued a health update in a post shared to Instagram on Friday after he underwent major surgery following a serious injury.

The JLS singer, 37, looked in happy spirits following the procedure as he smiled with his wife, Sarah-Louise, 36, and their three children, Grayson Jax, seven, Macaulay Shay, four, and Riley Skye, 19 months.

Last week, Aston took to TikTok to tell fans about the injury and said: ‘So, I had a bit of an accident on an injury and basically it requires surgery. So they’ve given me these really cool crutches.’

And now the star seems to be recuperating well as he shared a glimpse into his recovery and was seen cuddling his loved ones.

The surgery appeared to go well as the band member tested out his crutches around his hospital room.

Alongside his post, he penned: ‘Done, done & done! Thanks for all the love and support everyone. Thankfully, everything went to plan in surgery.

‘Shout out to the incredible Dr’s, nurses and staff at the hospital!! I’m home with my favourites so the rest and recovery starts now.’

On Friday, Aston gave fans an update as he shared pictures of himself in a hospital gown ahead of having an operation.

‘Here we go,’ he captioned the pictures, which showed him holding crutches and wearing surgery compression socks, adding a knife emoji, leg emoji and what appeared to be an amputated leg emoji.

His wife commented Sarah-Louise commented: ‘Love you so much.’

Aston’s pals were also quick to wish him well, with his bandmate Marvin Humes writing: ‘Love you bro! Everything is going to be better and stronger.’

‘You’ve got this ❤️ love you very much,’ Marvin’s wife Rochelle wrote.

The band kicked off their comeback tour in Glasgow at the Hydro Arena where he reportedly told fans he’d been advised by his team to postpone, but said there was ‘no way’ he could disappoint fans.

Aston praised his bandmates who had reportedly been forced to make some big changes to the show in order to accommodate his injury.

Sharing updates on his Instagram, he showed off a bedazzled black cut-off denim jacket, which read ‘backflips on hold’ as he posed backstage before the gig.

In the carousel of images, he shared a picture of his booted leg resting on an elevated pillow in bed and a snap of the band before their performance.

The Noughties boy band, which is composed of four members: Oritsé Williams, 38, JB Gill, 38, Aston and Marvin Humes, 40, went their separate ways 12 years ago to embark on solo careers.

But the pop sensations reunited to perform a limited run of shows across the UK in November.
