‘Frustrated and angry’ Ruben Amorim takes aim at his Man United stars

Ruben Amorim declared he was ‘frustrated and angry’ at Manchester United’s lack of competitiveness after the Red Devils dropped points late on against West Ham.

Man United had looked on course for three points at Old Trafford after Diogo Dalot’s 58th minute goal on Thursday night.

Victory would have taken Amorim’s side up to fifth in the Premier League, but they were stung when Soungoutou Magassa fired West Ham level in the 83rd minute.

Magassa had been quickest to react when Noussair Mazraoui cleared a Jarrod Bowen header off the line.

Amorim revealed his frustration at a lack of competitiveness shown by his side in the second half, after Man United dropped points for the second straight home match.

‘Frustrated, angry, that’s it,’ Amorim said.

Man United were stung by a late equaliser from West Ham's Soungoutou Magassa

‘It happened with a long ball, they win the second ball against three guys.

‘Second balls sometimes are tactical things. We try to adjust with the players we have.

‘In the final minutes, the ball was far from the opponent.

‘We cannot let a team that is so much taller than us have a corner.’

Amorim’s side were booed following the final whistle at Old Trafford after passing up another chance to climb the table.

It marked the second consecutive week Man United have failed to win at home, despite facing favourable opponents on paper.

Last week saw Man United lose 1-0 at home to Everton, who had been reduced to 10-men in the first half.

Thursday night’s draw with West Ham came despite the Hammers both starting and ending the day in the Premier League’s bottom three.

The Red Devils now lie eighth in an congested Premier League table, after six wins, four draws and four defeats so far this season.
