Sandra Bullock goes shopping with her children in rare sighting

Sandra Bullock and her two children enjoyed some quality time with security on hand.

Bullock, 61, her two children, Louis, 16, and Laila, 11, headed to the shops alongside the actress’ longtime bodyguard, Peter Weireter.

The laid-back outing saw the four making their way through a parking lot in Los Angeles after picking up several items on Wednesday.

Bullock made even sweats look stylish as she trekked ahead in a matching grey suit paired with black boots and a cap.

Weireter has been protecting Bullock for years and his security expertise has landed him credits in more than a few of her films, including the critically acclaimed 2009 football film The Blind Side and 2013’s space drama Gravity.

The latest outing marked a rare public sighting of the star, who has dialed back her public appearances in recent years, particularly since the passing of her long-time boyfriend Bryan Randall.

She also has not appeared in a movie since the 2022 action comedy The Lost City, released while she was caring for Randall during his then-secret ALS battle.

However it emerged earlier this year that she is working on a return to the screen, a romance thriller that will reunite her with her Speed co-star Keanu Reeves.

Bullock adopted Louis in 2010, and in 2015 she adopted daughter Laia.

Last July, as Bullock approached her 60th birthday nearly a year after Randall died, an insider revealed how she was coping with the bereavement.

‘She’s doing okay now. Her kids are amazing. She’s very happy to be a mom,’ said an insider close to Bullock’s longtime friend Jennifer Aniston told People.

‘Her friends gave her the support that she needed both during his illness and afterwards. She is grateful for all the love. Everyone helped to lift her up after Bryan passed,’ the source explained.

Randall secretly battled ALS for three years before finally succumbing to the dread disease on August 5, 2023, at the age of 57.

ALS, which is known in some countries as motor neurone disease, is a rare and incurable degenerative condition that impairs the nervous system over time and causes the muscles to increasingly suffer from paralysis.

About half of ALS patients have a life expectancy of three years after the initial onset of symptoms, though some can survive for decades.

ALS has been colloquially known in America as Lou Gehrig’s disease ever since it claimed the life of the beloved baseball player in 1941 when he was just 37.

Other notable patients have included Stephen Hawking, Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane, SpongeBob Squarepants creator Stephen Hillenburg, English actor David Niven and Killing Me Softly with His Song singer Roberta Flack.

In 2021, when Randall was already privately suffering from the condition, Bullock hailed him as ‘the love of my life’ on Red Table Talk.
