National Guard soldiers ‘are shot’ sparking White House lockdown

Multiple National Guard soldiers have reportedly been shot near the White House, sparking a security lockdown at the president’s residence.

Early reports suggest the shooter is in custody after multiple people were shot down the street from the White House in the center of DC.

An image has emerged online showing a national guard troop laying injured on the pavement as blood pours from his head while Secret Service agents give him medical attention.

An unidentified trooper in uniform was seen on a stretcher inside an ambulance receiving medical attention at the scene of shooting.

An FBI source told the Daily Mail that agents are on their way and will be on scene as soon as possible.

Armed National Guard troops have been deployed to the nation’s capital since early August as part of Donald Trump’s crime crackdown.

Roughly 2,000 National Guard troops from DC and at least eight states have been deployed.

‘The White House is aware and actively monitoring this tragic situation. The President has been briefed,’ White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the Daily Mail.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem asked for prayers for the two guardsmen and said her department was working with local law enforcement.

Secret Service officers and ambulances were seen responding to the scene.

The Daily Mail has reached out to the Secret Service for comment.

The president was not at the White House at the time of the shooting because he departed yesterday to Mar-a-Lago for the Thanksgiving holiday.
