Vicky Pattison was left gobsmacked when she topped the Strictly Come Dancing leaderboard during Saturday’s show.

As the BBC programmed returned to screens for week seven of the competition, nine couple’s battled it out on the ballroom floor for a place in the final.

And it proved to be a very emotional night for Vicky, who stunned the judges with her ‘immaculate’ Tango to The Fate of Ophelia by Taylor Swift.

The TV personality and her professional partner Kai Widdrington were awarded a huge 39 points, Anton Du Beke was left lost for words.

‘You’re line is the best line I have ever seen, ever! It was immaculate. I’m a bit stunned it was that good!’, he exclaimed.

While Craig Revel Horwood teased Vicky over her arm placement, even he admitted: ‘But… a part from that it was perfect.’

Head judge Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse said their performance was ‘the dance of the night,’ hailing their routine ‘remarkable.’

Kicking off the show, Lewis Cope and his professional partner Katya Jones took to the floor first as they danced the cha-cha-chá to I Like It Like That by Pete Rodrigue.

The pressure was on for the duo who received a perfect 40 points their Couple’s Choice dance last weekend.

After their performance Lewis and Katya received 35 points for their performance, with Craig awarding them an eight and the other judges giving 9’s.

Karen Carney and Carlos Gu danced the Charleston to Upside Down / Think by Diana Ross / Aretha Franklin.

Shirley hailed their fast paced routine ‘fantastic’ but, like Craig, said Karen’s ‘swivel’ was lacking in a few areas, which scored them 35 points overall.

Alex Kingston and Johannes Radebe scored 30 points for their Paso Doble to Amparito Roca by Jamie Texidor which left Alex feeling emotional.

Next up, La Voix took to the floor with her partner Aljaž Škorjanec as they danced the Foxtrot to Make Your Own Kind of Music by Cass Elliot.

Mosti and Shirley said the singer brought ‘sunshine to the ballroom’ but needed to see more technicality from their routine.

They scored a disappointing six from Craig, which brought their score to 29.

Dancing their couple’s choice to Sapphire by Ed Sheeran & Arijit Singh, Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon delighted the audience with their vibrant routine.

Host Tess Daley was left felling emotional after the actress paid tribute to her mum with her performance.

Craig admitted that while he was ‘totally obsessed’ with the style of dance it needed to be ‘much sharper.’

After suffering a difficult few weeks, Shirley hailed it Balvinder’s ‘best performance yet’ with Anton agreeing.

The audience was left booing when Craig gave the couple a poor seven out of ten, but luckily they managed to pull it back and received an overall score of 34.

George Clarke and Alexis Warr then performed a Vienesse Waltz to Somebody to Love by Queen, also receiving a 34 from the judges.

Speaking ahead of their routine, Amber Davis admitted she felt like ‘a duck’ as she struggled to let go while learning the Salsa.

Despite the former Love Island star’s fears, the judges were left very impressed by their routine.

They were awarded an incredible 38 for their performance which left the duo jumping for joy in the studio.

Finally, closing out the show, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and Karen Hauer danced the Samba to Samba by Gloria Estefan, but found himself at the bottom with 26 points.

This week, the show became embroiled in further scandal after a video of a married contestant passionately kissing a female show professional has reportedly surfaced.

The dance series has been plagued by issues in recent months, including a poor calibre of stars, sex scandals, an internal drugs investigation and accusations by contestants of abuse and bullying by dancers.

TV insiders claim the 12-second clip, filmed at Elstree Studios, could ‘rock the very foundations’ of the hit BBC show, which is notorious for the Strictly curse.

The dressing room video, allegedly taken by a member of production, is said to show the family man from a past series leaning in for a kiss with the professional dancer, who is sitting on his knee.

Sources say the video is being shared on WhatsApp and if it were to emerge online, it could ‘destroy the long-standing marriage to his “adorable and kind wife” as well as their family-friendly brand’.

‘This incident has been the talk of Strictly for the past couple of years. The kiss only lasts a few seconds but it would more than likely end his marriage and destroy his carefully cultivated family man image,’ a TV insider told The Sun.

‘It has been shared around on WhatsApp though as everyone is slightly sickened by this pair’s duplicitousness, especially as they always knocked down scurrilous romance rumours.

‘If this video comes out it would be an absolute PR crisis for both the BBC and the two stars involved. It will rock the very foundations of Strictly.’

Strictly Come Dancing representatives declined to comment when contacted by the Daily Mail.

BBC bosses have been in a desperate bid to keep the show drama-free after it has been plagued by a string of scandals.

The show has found itself marred by controversy over how some of the professional dancers teach the celebrities, with multiple accusations emerging of bullying and abusive behaviour.
