Harper Beckham celebrates Sir David’s knighthood in a camisole dress

The celebrations continued well into the early hours of Tuesday morning as Sir David Beckham toasted his long awaited knighthood with a select group of family and friends.

The former footballer was made a knight of the British empire for services to sport and charity during Tuesday’s investiture, notably his impact on football over a twenty year period and subsequent ambassadorial role with UNICEF.

But if his exclusively grey morning suit was inspired by King Charles, daughter Harper’s elegant evening gown bore all the stylistic hallmarks of her fashion designer mother.

The 14-year old opted for a sophisticated petunia satin camisole dress while celebrating her famous father’s latest achievement at family friend Gordon Ramsay’s Chelsea restaurant.

Designed by Victoria’s very own fashion house, the creation joins a long line of VB camisoles to be worn by Harper at public events over recent years.

Not listed among the brand’s current range of floor-length dresses – which start at £850 – the camisole may well have been exclusively designed alongside Sir David’s bespoke suit ahead of Tuesday’s celebration.

Man of the moment Sir David looked a little weary as he emerged from the extravagant event hand-in-hand with Victoria at 1:00am.

Britain’s newest knight of the realm couldn’t bare to be parted from his investiture medal, holding onto his wife with one hand and the day’s precious souvenir with the other.

Lady Beckham had changed out of her smart navy dress worn at the day’s ceremony, opting for a slinky black floor length number and a fur bolero.

Sir David meanwhile was dressed in a classic velvet tux, having earlier worn a bespoke suit created by his designer wife for the royal ceremony.

A source close to the family revealed to the Daily Mail that family friend Gordon was delighted to host the dinner party as his gift to his best pal

‘As David’s best friend Gordon decided the best gift was to throw him a wonderful dinner,’ an insider spilled.

‘David was there, there their kids, his sisters, parents and Victoria’s mum and dad.’

The former footballer was welcomed by King Charles while receiving his knighthood at Windsor Castle for services to sport and charity.

Asked about their brief conversation following the ceremony, the former Manchester United and England legend said: ‘He was quite impressed with my suit.’

Sir David revealed the tweed loving King had served as a somewhat unlikely inspiration for the suit, an elegant grey wool affair replete with single pleated trousers, tailed jacket and distinctive lapel chain.

‘He’s kind of the most elegantly dressed man that I know, so he inspired quite a few of my looks over the years and he definitely inspired this look,’ he explained.

‘It was something that my wife made me. I looked at old pictures of him when he was quite young in morning suits and I was like, OK, that’s what I want to wear, so I gave it to my wife and she did it.’

Sir David also admitted he has felt emotional about the impending knighthood since he was recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours earlier this year.

‘I’ve been very obviously lucky in my career to have won what I’ve won and done what I’ve done but to receive an honour like this, of a knight, is beyond anything that I ever thought that I would receive.

‘To be honest, a young boy from the east end of London, born in Leytonstone, and here at Windsor Castle, being honoured by His Majesty the King – the most important and the most respected institution in the world – it’s quite a moment.

‘This is without doubt my proudest moment.’
