Woman ‘is charged’ after former Bournemouth star lost his leg in crash

A woman has officially been charged after a former Bournemouth player lost his leg in a car crash on the motorway, according to a report.

Jordan Chiedozie, who is the son of former Tottenham and Nigeria winger John, was on the hard shoulder of the M27 at the time. He was outside his car, investigating a flat tyre when he was hit.

He was put into an an induced coma, and the 31-year-old, who was with Bournemouth for seven years, had to have his leg amputated.

Now, according to the Sun, 45-year-old Anna Bogusiewicz has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.

The report states that Bogusiewicz will next appear at Southampton Crown Court on December 1.

Chiedozie, who was on Bournemouth’s books from 2007 to 2012 but never made his senior debut for the club, played for non-league side Bashley FC against Tavistock back in Februrary and it was when he was travelling back that the incident unfolded on February 1.

Chiedozie and Bashley physio Reighan Taylor suffered a flat tyre while driving on the motorway.

As the player stepped out to assess the situation, he was struck by another vehicle and had to be rushed to hospital with severe injuries.

‘Everyone connected with Bashley Football Club is devastated by the news that our player Jordan Chiedozie is currently in hospital with what is described as “life-changing, and potentially life-threatening” injuries, after a serious car crash,’ read a club statement.

‘Jordan was travelling back from Saturday’s Southern League match at Tavistock with club physio Reighan Taylor, when they pulled over onto the hard shoulder of the M27 near Southampton, to investigate a flat tyre.

‘They were both outside the vehicle when it was hit heavily from behind by another car. The driver of that vehicle has been arrested for alleged “drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving”.

‘Jordan was taken to Southampton Hospital suffering multiple broken bones and other physical injuries. At this time he remains in a controlled coma.

‘Reighan was not hurt physically, but obviously has suffered severe trauma. She was able to use her skills to provide immediate, although in such circumstances, very basic, first aid to Jordan at the scene.

‘The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the club are with Jordan and his family, and of course with Reighan, at what is a difficult time for all connected with Bashley FC.

‘In view of the seriousness of the situation the club has applied to the Southern League to have Tuesday’s scheduled home match against Thatcham Town postponed. The Southern League have respectfully agreed with the request.’

Chiedozie suffered life-changing injuries, losing his right leg and suffering open fractures on his left leg, as well as cracking his pelvis.

In July, in aid of Chiedozie, Bashley hosted AFC Bournemouth’s development side, with the youth side winning the game 6-1.

Ahead of the game both sets of teams performed a guard of honour for Chiedozie who made his way onto the pitch.

He said the ‘one goal’ he had set himself was to be able to walk back in to Bashley.

‘I’ve still got a long journey, learning a whole new lifestyle with the prosthetic leg,’ Chiedozie told the BBC. ‘It’s hard to process – you are happy and blessed to be here but you have still gone through serious injuries.’
